Weekly Update: May 1-5, 2023

We prepare to welcome the month of May! In this month we honour and celebrate Mary, the Mother of God.

May is Asian Heritage Month, an opportunity for all Canadians to learn more about the many achievements and contributions of Canadians of Asian descent who, throughout our history, have done so much to make Canada the amazing country we all share today. We look forward to learning more about their contributions.

Catholic Education Week (CEW) and Children’s Mental Health Week

This week we celebrate Catholic Education Week. This year’s theme is “Catholic Education: We Are Many, We Are One”.  Let us pray this special prayer:

We are many, we are one; we all form one body in Christ.
Lord, when we see the one before us,
let us reverence your presence within;
when we listen to one another, let us hear with our hearts;
when we reflect on each encounter, may we discern to understand;
when we learn from those around us, let us respect our differences with joy;
and when we act, may we be kind and generous to all,
for each person is a member of your body, with all that they are.
We are many, we are one.
Amen.

This week is also Children’s Mental Health Week This is an annual national event that takes place every year during the first week in May to encourage people to learn, talk, reflect and engage with others on all issues relating to mental health.

We look forward to our students participating in sessions focused on this year’s Catholic Education theme, as well as understanding and supporting their mental health (see School Mental Health Ontario).

Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners,
now and at the hour of our death.

Amen.

St. Nicholas, pray for us.

Wishing you a wonderful week!

Sincerely,
C. Quadrini, Principal
