We have been very pleased with the student responses and support for our ‘Earth Week Challenges’ at St. Nicholas CES! On Monday, we were all encouraged to enjoy a ‘meatless’ Monday as we learned about the challenges of methane gases that animals produce. On Tuesday, we were very pleased with the ‘boomerang’ lunches that students brought in and then returned their luncheon containers to home at the end of the day! Wednesday was ‘walk to school’ Wednesday, whereby, students who were able to walked to school so that car emissions were reduced. Thursday’s challenge is entitled ‘Thirsty Thursday’ and we are very proud of the incredibly reduced plastic bottles we find around the school due to students bringing in their own reusable water bottles. Finally, on Friday we will be eating our lunch with the ‘lights out’ as we emphasize the importance of preserving electricity. Alongside this challenge is the ‘Plastic Grab Bag’ challenge that we are participating in. If you have any extra plastic bags in your house and would like them recycled properly, please bring them into the school before the end of the week! Thank you again for your support as always!
