Weekly Update: November 14-18, 2022

Dear St. Nicholas CES Parents and Guardians,

Throughout November, we continue to reflect on the virtue of justice.  Christian justice is rooted in love.  It is based on fairness, mercy and compassion.  We are called to be kind and to give generously.  These are qualities that lead us to live lives where justice will prevail.

God of Justice,

Help us to see those around us with loving and compassionate eyes.

May we always work toward breaking down the barriers to love that make people feel isolated and alone.

Help us develop the wisdom to know that every little bit of kindness and care that we show to each other will make a difference and will always demonstrate our love for you.

We make this prayer in your name, Jesus.

Amen

Farewell to Mr. Ted Mathewson

St. Nicholas CES congratulates Mr. Ted Mathewson on his appointment to the role of courier at the York Catholic DSB.

Mr. Mathewson, famously known as Mr. Ted, worked at St. Nicholas CES for the past 13 years as Head Custodian.  He contributed in a significant way to our school community, helping to keep our school clean, safe and welcoming.  His kindness, generosity, sense of humour, and willingness to lend a hand whenever needed, are just a few of the wonderful qualities that make him special.  He developed many strong and caring relationships with staff, students and families.  He will be greatly missed by all.

The news of Mr. Mathewson’s appointment came quickly.  His last day at St. Nicholas CES was last Friday.  Staff and students bid farewell to Mr. Ted at the end of the day, however, our school will be planning a more formal celebration and presentation for him in the weeks to come.

We wish Mr. Mathewson the very best as he begins his new role.
