Christ is risen! Alleluia!

Happy Easter! I pray that you and your family enjoyed a joyful Easter filled with many blessings and graces.

“This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad!”

Let us open our hearts today and during these next fifty days to encounter our Risen Lord and deepen our faith in Him. May His light guide us as we share the Good News and love for one another.

 

Easter Mass

Our Easter mass will be celebrated by Fr. Rafal on Tuesday, April 18th, 2023 at 10:15am in the school gymnasium All parents and guardians are welcome to join us.

 

Easter and Spring Spirit Week

This week, we celebrate Easter and Spring Spirit week with some fun activities including virtual Easter egg hunts, Spring bingo, and Easter jokes and riddles. We look forward to a fun and exciting week!

 

Grade 8 Graduation Fundraiser

Our Grade 8 Graduating Class is pleased to announce their Popcorn and Juice fundraiser in support of their upcoming graduation celebration. Order forms were sent home last week, and are due by April 12th, 2023. Please see the handout attached for more information.

Catholic School Council Meeting

Our next Catholic School Council meeting will take place on Tuesday, April 18th, 2023 at 7:00pm in the school library. All parents and guardians are welcome to attend.

 

Kindergarten Registration

Do you have a child or know someone who has a child who is eligible to register for Kindergarten this coming fall? If yes, the 2023-2024 Kindergarten registration at the York Catholic District School Board is now open!

Parents are invited to register online at: www.ycdsb.ca/admissions .

 

Autism Awareness Month

In recognition of Autism Awareness month, St. Nicholas CES will engage students in various activities during the week of April 17-21, including a blue ribbon activity, puzzle piece designs, and ribbon art creations with buddies to develop awareness and understanding of autism. We look forward to this week of collaboration and learning.

 

Terracotta Frozen Cookie Dough Drop Fundraiser

St. Nicholas CES is excited to announce our Terracotta Frozen Cookie Dough Drop fundraiser that will take place from Monday, April 17th to Friday, April 28th, 2023!

This fundraising campaign will raise funds to provide our students with technology, supplemental mathematics and literacy learning resources, as well as guest speakers, presentations and enhancement programs to support faith development, fitness, well-being, the arts, equity and inclusion, and anti-bullying.

We invite you to share our fundraising flyer and link with your extended family, colleagues, friends and neighbours!

St. Nicholas CES Newmarket

Draw tickets will be provided for students to enter to win one of many AMAZING prizes! One draw ticket will be provided for each frozen cookie dough drop box or baked shortbread cookie gift box purchased by your family, friends and neighbours. Don’t forget, those who are making purchases should add your child(ren)’s family name (seller) and our school name (St. Nicholas CES) when placing orders to ensure that draw tickets are allocated accurately.

Pick up of Terra Cotta frozen cookie dough drops and shortbread cookie box orders will take place on Tuesday, May 16th, 2023, just in time for the Victoria Day long weekend!

Monday, April 10th:
– Easter Monday; no school

Tuesday, April 11th:
– York Regional Public Health dental screening for JK, SK, Grades 2 and 8, possibly Grades 4, 7, and others as requested by parents/guardians, in the library beginning at 8:45am

Wednesday, April 12th:
– Oral Communications school level finals competition for Grades 6-8, in the gymnasium at 12:30pm; parents are welcome to attend

Thursday, April 13th:
– Kaleidoscope in the Schools (KITS) – Aurora Cultural Centre, Bon Débarras performance, FDK to Grade 4 in the gymnasium, at 8:45am
– KITS post-show workshop, hands-on interactive activity, Grade 4 in the gymnasium, at 10:10am
